Randy and Suzanne Say Goodbye to Burnt Store Marina
Randy and Suzanne Say Goodbye to Burnt Store Marina

Randy and I finished provisioning Gryphon yesterday afternoon. We are grateful that Don Van Zile, our brother-in-law, rode down with us, helped load bags, and drove our car back to Venice, hopefully without any trouble. If the latest weather forecast looks favorable, we will be heading to the fuel dock to top up the diesel, then on to Key West with the ebbing tide.

I cracked open a fortune cookie that said, “Good luck is mostly good planning.” I also got a card that said, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade…But when life hands you a load of crap, don’t make anything.” In between the two there is living in the present moment, appreciating the beauty and coping with loss. It is in this spirit that we plan for a new sailing adventure, south to the Florida Keys and up the entire east coast of the U.S. It’s a voyage we have made before, but rushed into four weeks of vacation from work. On this trip we will wait for good weather and hopefully sail more, motor less, and get to see more land-side sights along the way.
